During the winter of 2008 I was extremely bored with my usual gym routine. My weight had plateaued and I was looking for an alternate form of exercise. I saw an advert for BYWR and thought I would try out the introductory week promotion of unlimited classes. I really wasn't prepared for the first class as I thought how difficult; how hot can it be? During that first class I thought I was going to pass out and I gave up less than half way through the routine. Feeling disappointed and some what embarrassed I was very grateful to the instructor who acknowledged how difficult the first class can be; gave me advise on hydration; timing of when to eat before a class and encouraged me to come back the following night. I completed the following class and another two that same week...I was hooked.
It is now 6 months later and I attend classes 3 to 4 times per week. My goal is to complete 200 classes in my first year. I have lost 25lbs and two inches from my waist. In addition to the benefits I have gained in weight loss and muscle toning I was surprised to find that I also sleep better.
Bikram Yoga is now an important part of my weekly routine. I cannot imagine getting bored with this activity as each class can present different physical and or emotional challenges. Each class that I complete is an accomplishment and with each little improvement in my technique I feel closer to achieving my goal.
