negotiations cont'd

Posted by jen on Wed, Apr 22nd, 2009 5:51:21 pm

Well, there's 9 days left of the month and i have 19 classes to do. gulp. 3 more advanced and 16 beginners. Helen said she would re-neg down to 35. I'm tempted, but considering how hard she has worked, i'm thinking i should follow through with it.

i am so impressed with all the troopers on the challenge, and what they're sacrificing to fulfill their commitment. Incredible what you are capable of doing when you make up your mind.

keep tuned.

yoga negotiations: brought to you by Helen

Posted by Jennifer Lee on Wed, Apr 1st, 2009 8:46:32 pm

I just want to say, i have a very special place in my heart for Helen. She is one of the most dedicated, inspiring students i have ever taught. to this day, she has done 90 classes in 90 days. recently, judes challenged her to do 101, and she accepted the offer.

When Helen's 'partner in crime', Elise, signed up for our april 30 day challenge, i asked Helen if she would keep going until the end of April (for a total of 120 classes in 120 days!!) she told me i was crazy.

the negotiations were soon to come. this morning, Helen told me that if i was willing to do 40 classes in april, she would continue on to do her 120 days. but that's not all. 10 of my classes had to be the advanced class, an 84 asana series practiced only by teachers and advanced students who will be competing in the yearly asana championships. i told her she was crazy.

we squabbled a little bit, and i proposed 8 advanced classes minimum, 2 per week.

she said that would be ok.

so, here we go Helen. Elise. Jennifer. Katie. Lindsay? Let the games begin! :)

just don't feel like it

Posted by Jennifer Lee on Fri, Mar 20th, 2009 4:00:06 pm

well, here i find myself. sitting in the office, listening to a class being signed in outside, having spent all day entering new info into our website.

this is my first blog on the new site, class starts in 9 minutes.

i don't feel like it. ok, here go my 'reasons':

  • i just ate 2 hours ago, and still feel a bit full
  • i'm doing a double tomorrow, so technically i would still be on par for my 30 day challenge
  • i haven't had enough water to drink today
  • i have a lot of work to do here, and could use the hour and a half to get it done
  • i feel sluggish and just don't want to.
I am very familiar with this struggle, i have to say. my 'reasons' pull at me nearly every single class i do.

4 minutes until class starts.

i know i can do the work later. i know i'll feel better and less sluggish once i'm done. i know i'll have an easier time doing a double tomorrow if i do class today. i can drink water later.

class starts in 2 minutes.

gotta go. my mat awaits.
so glad i did it!

It was a tough class. the sun is shining, so the room was hot. Rea was teaching, and the postures were long and hard.

as always, so glad i did it. all my reasons were moot, i have lots of time to do stuff, and that sluggish feeling is gone.

thank goodness it's friday ! :)
